Design and characterization of a thin linear ultrasonic motor for miniature focus systems

We present a miniature linear piezoelectric ultrasonic motor with thin and hollow design, which can serve as an essential component of autofocusing features in next-generation camera modules. It consists square stator hole elastic cylindrical slider slit. The the inserted into expands outward, enables structure for centering lens optimal preload enhancing thrust force. In this study, we model relationship between dimensions statically to quantify value clarify design methodology motor. After optimizing empirically, evaluate fundamental characteristics experimentally. side length 4.5 mm thickness less than 1 provides force 12.9 mN that leads quick response, is requirement autofocusing. Finally, drive system visual feedback control used demonstrate positioning actual group front image sensor obtain clearer images.
